ABOUT DANIEL GEORGE

Interaction is a culmination of not just artwork but a lifetime of expression of George Daniel that begins at the age of 13. Hailing from the rainy town of Taiping, George Daniel is no stranger to diverse forms of art like paintings, sketches and even music. These talents were passed down from generation to generation.

M. Anthony Dass, his maternal grandfather was an avid classical musician, playing thirteen different Indian classical instruments. He also was also active in writing short stories and loved to write screenplay for stage plays. Philomina Soosay inherited her father's passion for art and expressed it via woodwork, carvings, and sketches which she turned into designs on fabric. So, it comes of no surprise that her youngest son would inherit these traits and become the heart and soul of Dany's Modern Art now known as D'Art Gallery.
The story of Dany's Modern Art and George Daniel begin with the simple idea of a hobby and a favourite pastime. This resulted in the birth of drawings, paint-ings, sketches that were accumulated in time and its worth slowly growing as the talent and skills of the artist also evolved. It was many years later that an art collector spotting his work and realising its worth, decides to bring it into the spotlight. Exhibitions in prominent locations such as News Straits Times gallery, Gallery 360 @ The KLTower, appearing in many local art magazines, several media interviews, and articles later, D' Art Gallery established itself on the local scene. An artwork of his also got sold at the International Masterpiece Auction.

As much as it's fame in the local artist arena, my thoughts of Dany's Modern Art still take me back to a simple wooden house in Kampung Pinang, Taiping, Perak where I grew up seeing my uncle George Daniel or fondly know at home as Danny, express his passion in living colour. I had the privilege of seeing his early works, sit by his side as a drew intricate lines in clean sheets of paper. Many years later as I walked through his gallery, gazing at the art, I could not help recollecting the days when I was younger sitting by his side. I realised the value of his art was not just monetary but also rich in life values. All his Artwork incorporates the power of three, which is the nucleus of life itself. His Interaction series features family and the richness of love between A Mother, Father, and Child while his Lilies Series inculcates the circle of life from the seed to the withering tree that once again rebirths as a new plant.

All his artwork brings to light the significance of the three prime colours coming together to bring life to art.
Without those three colours there is not art, without art there is no life.
The privilege of growing up around his artwork never ceases to amaze me as I discover new messages each time I look at his art pieces. I know it will be the same for the readers of this book as well and I hope you get to walk through the gallery of Dany's Modern Art to experience the expressions of George Daniel.
